Ready for Takeoff

When your dress has an outer space print, you're bound to get compliments.

I bought this dress from Modcloth as a birthday gift to myself in July. While I hated dropping $75 on a dress, it was so worth it. The sweetheart neckline and the print were just too much to pass up. I literally get compliments every time I wear it.

While I was living in Ohio last winter, I visited the Air and Space Museum in Wapakoneta, Neil Armstrong's hometown. I kind of wish I had this dress to wear there. It would've been perfect.

As for the denim jacket, it's a pretty recent development. I used to hate denim jackets, for one reason or another, but I think that might be because I always see people wearing those jackets with jeans. It totally adds a badass factor in the wardrobe.

I'm trying to get myself away from a cardigan addiction, since that's my normal go-to for outfits with dresses. I think this works pretty well.

In other news, I'm loving this summer-like weather. After the incredibly harsh winter, I enjoy seeing all the greenery and the cartoonish clouds. And for fair complected folk like me, getting sunburnt after being outside for an hour. Haha. I have a really weird triangle-shaped burn on my chest from the day I wore this outfit. Can't win 'em all.

What are some of your splurge wardrobe pieces?

PS In case you didn't hear, as of yesterday, THE GAY MARRIAGE BAN IN PENNSYLVANIA WAS RULED UNCONSTITUTIONAL. So happy for all of my LGBT friends. :) :)

  2. You're right such a cute dress, worth the birthday splurge and the compliments you receive! My biggest wardrobe splurge pieces honestly has to be vintage pieces that I pay not thrift store prices for like that I buy at a vintage shoppe or on etsy! Recently for my birthday I threw down $70 for a 1960's blue beautiful dress.

    1. Birthdays are seriously the best excuse to spend lots of money. Lol. I've been meaning to purchase clothes on Etsy, but haven't done that just yet.

  3. I'm glad someone has said that cardigans are an addiction because it's so true. You've inspired me to wear jean jackets instead! ModCloth is pretty much the only place I ever splurge...because when you see a pretty dress, you can't pass it up. You look amazing in that dress! Galaxy prints are thebomb.com

    1. There was another time I wore the galaxy dress, and someone asked me if I bought it from Nicki Minaj's website. It must look SUPER classy. Lol.

And as another cardigan alternative, although probably not for summer, I'd like to incorporate a leather jacket into the mix. But we'll see about that. :)

Also, YAY for the decision in Pennsylvania! :)

  5. I'm addicted to cardigans too but I absolutely love a good jean jacket thrown over a dress. I like how they add a nice texture to an outfit so I'm glad they're back in style. Yours looks awesome over your galaxy print dress. The dress is wonderful too. I can never get enough galaxy print. I love that you can wear just about every color with it.

    1. I know! That's the beauty of having prints that incorporate several colors. It makes it extremely versatile.

  6. I love galaxy print and space print. I'm in love with my space skirt from ModDolly, it's just a different print :)
I agree, I'm all about the cardi's but I think I should move into something else. I have two denim shirts that I try to wear instead, I find them a little less heavy than the jacket.

    1. Denim shirts sound like a good option, too. I opted for the jacket on this particular day because it was really breezy out. I had almost wished I had worn tights because I kept getting cold. And yet I still got a sunburn. Lol.

  7. I have this dress and I can attest -- it is the BEST dress. People will always love it too! I wore it to a nerd convention and it was a total hit. Anyways, it looks adorable on you too! What part of Ohio did you live in?!

    1. Yes! I've been reading your blog for little awhile, so I know you love everything outer spacey, right? :)

I lived in Lima for about a year before moving back to Pennsylvania. It's so not like Glee, lol. I worked for the newspaper there.
